The Legacy

America is now wholly given over to a d---ed mob of scribbling women, and I should have no sense of success while the public taste is occupied with their trash and should be ashamed of myself if I did succeed.

Nathaniel Hawthorne,

                                                                                      1855

Nathaniel Hawthorne

I salute you..

Through the lace brocade

of futured years.

May you choke upon

our bosom souls

scorning line and verse.

Gracefully,

I soar the skies

freed femininely,

without apology

or blessed of excuse.

Nathaniel Hawthorne

I dedicate this poem

to you…the biggest

fool who ever

wrote on earth!

thanks for this enlightening little piece of history, I'm not much of an intellectual guy, so I hope you won't mind my silly interpretations of things that oftimes capture my imaginative eye...

ahhh the wounded male ego at its finest, only difference between way back then and now, is back then men were stupid enough to vocalize their demoralizing thoughts about women, today they just think them and are smart enough to keep their mouths shut,. lol. Great work doll, loved it Hugs, Bunny

Hmm well, it seems we have come a long way since 1855. haha. As always, You have managed to push your good dose in the noses of those who may agree. I would say since my former (your present) group thrives from the active writes of women I will not need shades at this present time. Good strike from your ever-flowing pen.

    Superb

I liked the satire and truth of this poem; and the imagery which you created. It actually brought a smile to my face. I agree women should be considered at all times to be equal with men; especially when being paid for similiar work. Again, well done.

d---ed is in the original quote?

I don't thing Nathaniel Hawthorne was a fool. Perhaps he only said what he thought people wanted to hear.

    Nice fire.
