He closes his eyes
She shuts hers to
A few moments from now
She’s black and blue
You can’t see it
And neither can I
But if you look past her skin
And deep 'to her eyes
The fear is there
And the battle lost
She’ll never win
She’s paid the cost
And when she sleeps
He’s in her dreams
That cause her to toss
And kick and scream
Her mom doesn’t know
Her dad is clueless
To tell them all
Just seems so useless
She’s walking home
And sees his face
She bows her head
and picks up the pace
Nobody knows
And nobody cares
That she feels like a whore
That’s beyond repair
The laugh she hears
So she screams and shouts
They stare at her
While she’s drowning it out
It won’t take months
She’s looking at years
But she wants this gone
With her newfound fears
But you’ll never know
Because you see her as stressed
But she doesn’t give a shit
If she passes your test
“I just want to win”
She says in her head
As the day ends
And she climbs into bed
It’s going to take time
She’s not ready to take
Why did it happen to her
Is the question she makes
So the days go by
The question remains
because the only answer she has
Is one that stains.
