brings so many home each night.
They see the mighty beacon,
it's the path for life.
So many ships and sailors,
have been saved over the years.
By this single beacon,
as homeward bound they steer.
Each of us is a lighthouse,
but this I thought you knew.
For the light we carry within us,
shines in all we say and do.
If we think about it and know how blessed,
we each are to carry the light within.
We could travel the world and give to all the rest,
just how to love and where to begin.
Together the brilliance would so be,
like the sunrise from sea to sea.
For together this land could shine and have no fear,
only togetherness shall bring it near.
The child holds the light the brightest today,
their beacon is within their loving face.
To shine and give love and be happy and free,
could be a great lesson learned by you and me.
For some this light has dimmed and life has been so cruel,
they shown their light against the devil and some lost the duel.
Raised in hate and destruction so where were all the rest,
does not your light shine for all not just the best.
It's a thought which to ponder what have you to say,
did you shine your light on anyone this day.
For alone the light often is never seen,
yet together we could create the ultimate dream.

I love how in the poem you used personification with the lighthouse.
"Each of us is a lighthouse,
but this I thought you knew.
For the light we carry within us,
shines in all we say and do"
that is my favorite line. -
this part almost brought tears to my eyes,"For some this light has dimmed and life has been so cruel,
they shown their light against the devil and some lost the duel.
Raised in hate and destruction so where were all the rest,
does not your light shine for all not just the best."
i suppose i was one that was raised in hate and destruction, my light did not bright enough.

I have always related to lighthouses. This poem gave me the chills as I was reading it. The 4th stanza is my favorite. So few think of passing on the knowledge in such a way, simply knowing we all have the light if we recognize it and the power it could have if people knew how to start to find it. Very beautiful thoughts and I can't wait to read more. This made my morning.

I love that stanza. We are all filled with the light of hope but some of us choose to dim that light. This poem is powerful. I wish you the best in the challenge.
Much Love ♥

What a wonderful message this sends out to all whom read it. We often times are quick to judge others and slow to look at the image looking back at us within that mirror, sometimes it is just begging us to turn up the luminance which surrounds us so we can be more focused on self pride and less focused on public pity. Nice write here and it was a pure priviledge to read. God Bless, Suzi

Another beautiful piece. "Be the lighthouse" I love it. We can all make a difference. We can all be the light to help guide others, to be there for them, to enlighten them, to help them. I think one of the ideas is that a lighthouse helps people help themselves, by providing the light that allows the person to find his own way. I think that when we try to help in this fashion, we can really make a difference. Best of luck in the contest!!

A wonderful poem, a true Light House vision. Loved how you showed how important one can be and then turned it into a metephoric look at our life. Everyone at one time or another is in need of a light house. We should all be ready to be one!

This is a nice poem. I like the rhyme and the flow of the poem. I think that you dealt with the prompt very effectively. As always, you deliver a great message.

Yes, We Are All,
lighthouses, reflective of our inner soul. We can choose which to do, to shine with His favor or to dwell in darkness. I join with you in doing the former of the two.
Niaish for sharing this offering with us.
