Cottage In The Pines

Nestled deep within the woods ‘neath pine trees strong and tall
There’s an opening within the glen where sits a cottage small
The woodland air is fresh and clean and wonderful to smell
And cool and sparkling water comes from deep within a well

There’s a sunny spot upon some rocks where you can sit and look
At the tiny woodland creatures play beside a babbling brook
In winter time a fire burns bright within the cottage hearth
And through the windows you can see the snow cover the earth

The cottage has a special place with a loft covered with tin
Where you can go for solitude and watch the dawn come in
In springtime on a rainy day within the woods so deep
The raindrops on the metal roof will lull you off to sleep

The wild flowers around the cottage begin to bloom in spring
And you can sit upon the porch and smell them from the swing
It’s a place of awesome beauty and I hope everybody finds
A place as warm and wonderful as my cottage in the pines

Fantastic - I don't suppose it's up for rental as it sounds like somewhere I'd really love to be right now!

    cozy and warm

Alright! You've convinced me. I'll take one of each. The cottage in the wood (preferably in the mountains of New England) and the cottage on the ocean (I'll take the pink sand of Eleuthera though). I am impressed by the clear image that you paint in both and they hold a special place in my heart as well.

    exceptional

This is a wonderful work; the kind I have come to expect from you!
You have tackled the assignment masterfully, and painted us a picture in words - so beautiful that we wouldn't hesitate to go there and enjoy the pines, the brook, the wild flowers, the rain on the time roof, and the silitude. A delightful experience to read, let alone to live there!

    Best wishes,
    Moses

Very nicely done...Seamless rhyme, I must say. And wonderful tangible imagery!

    Thank you for sharing!

It's fine- with the longer lines and unforced wording, I didn't even notice. You use them skillfully, and they flow well. I loved the springtime/rainy day lines, and also the "smell them from the swing". Thank you for entering!
