She looked at the Desk...where he had written before
A note, a ring, and a pear was all that was left
She didn't know if she would see him again
A tear slid down her pale cheek, a salty theft
If only he didn't have to go maybe a relationship could mend
She read the letter word for word
A love that never was that could've been
In every sentence, it was him she heard
Saying I love you played out as a scene
All that had been left with her were broken dreams
A ring to represent how he felt...
Nothing could help her heart from this pain
A pear to show her their love was sweet but would melt
It was a kind of love no one could ever attain.
And so she sat crying and thinking of how
He made her heart sputter at every touch
It didn't seem so dumb to tell him how she felt now
But it was too late he was gone with dusk's clutch
"Maybe..."she thought..."just maybe...he will return."
A hopeful mind full of confusion
A hopeless poetical love
There may never be a conclusion
Only with stars above
There holds an ideal illusion.
What's your first impresion?

Beautifully poignant
Very touching, this one. I love the imagery, especially the 'salty theft'. Each line really conveys a deep and haunting love.
