Place Your Trust With Care

When trust has died the lights are dim
and the broken heart bleeds grief,
for empty does the world now feel
in silence, stolen like a thief.

It's not our nature to be alone
but walking side by side,
to make our lives the best we can,
trust, a part that each provides.

For none of us are innocent
no matter what we say,
there's been someone in our lives letdown
with loose lips we have betrayed.

But the spirit keeps on searching
and trust is placed with much more care,
such choices with more clarity
will save us great despair.

A lonely life without some faith
and the heart will start to waste,
just be wary within whose hands
our hearts are forever placed.

This is an amazing poem. I really like the idea behind it, and the quote is very true. The rhyme and flow of this piece are so flawless, and I love the second stanza particularly. Wonderful poem! Good job on the gold

Wow! This is powerful and very well written. The rhythm and rhyme is amazing and does not seem forced at all. I love the way you share the message about finding a balance between trusting too much, and not at all. That can be tough to find when one has been hurt deeply in life, but it is essential to a happy and fulfilling life. Great job on this poem, and thanks so much for entering my contest. Blessings, Patty

Very nice and also very true. There are people out there who do a lot of gossip and telling of lies. I try not to be one of them but I am sure that I have probably slipped a time or two. Not that I meant to.

This is a very well written poem that tells something very meaningful. Thanks for sharing this.
