Once etched onto stone tablets
from ancient Sumerian time,
drawings of eleven planets
but we just know of nine.
It’s said the tenth one was the moon,
the eleventh was unknown,
was it just an extra doodle,
a blob on slabs of stone?
Sometimes known as Planet X,
although scientists disagree,
and call it non-existent
as it’s something they can’t see.
The legends tell a story
of doomsday from the sky,
if they left a warning for us
why do we say, they lie.
Cataclysmic chaos
forecast from long ago
with extinction of all humans
from orbs in sky that glow.
Somehow those rocks survived the times,
the upheavals of the earth,
are they just artistic paintings
or should we heed their worth…

Congratulations on the Gold Trophy.. This poem is outstanding. its also very informative.. and I truly believe that they were telling us the truth.. look what happened to the dinosaurs.. they were wiped out with flaming rocks from the sky. some warnings shouldn't be ignored.
The imagery throughout this poem is excellent.

So many fascinating items unearthed from the past - so many things we can't fully decipher. And I guess everyone wonders about their meanings, and everyone has their own opinion. All so interesting I think. Will we ever know the truth??
Thanks - glad you enjoyed this kat.

You present fascinating information in a poem that rhymes and flows quite well. I see rocks in the final stanza to have a double meaning of sorts - the stone slabs and the planets.
Nicely done!
