The Morning After

THE MORNING AFTER THE 11th OF SEPTEMBER

Death descended on wings of steel
Piercing the morning sky.
Crescent, star and hearts of zeal,
Said innocents must die!

Martyrs to the vicious lie,
In scriptures writ in gall,
Evil angels of death did cry,
We sacrifice them all!

Why does freedom so offend you,
And liberty so enrage?
The same God of Christian and Jew,
Granted Muhammad's age.

What perversion of faith inspired,
Or even asked of you
What no God ever required
His faithful servants do?

Show me, in this world or the next,
Where any God on high
Decreed in holy book or text
That anyone must die?

    Poet

I think I just fell in love with you. Brave and honest words indeed. questions I have often asked without reply. And on here many ignorant to the facts. Outstanding poet. You have just made the guy from Brooklyn NY smile.

These words address the bold truth. No God christian, jew or any other has decreed death
to anyone. Times of sacrifice is to be for God and the good of others, not to create harm.Rhyme and flow are nicely done. Destruction is the ultimate event for hate to rise up.

Nicely written with rhyme and flow. Showing the distruction with metaphor to make us see the events of hate in a different light.

    Great JOb!!!

I love this and it is a very different perspective but one we should all clearly think about and pray about...I'll serve a God of love anyday over a God that orders death to those who will not succumb to his belief system...Thanks for your entry and the best of luck in my contest!!!~~Toni~~

The rhyme is nicely done, abab for each quatrain. The blend with smooth movement between lines and building intensity from stanza to stanza the reader is taken on a tour of misquided souls. We rally to stop these of destructive faith, as we pray to end these times of conflict.
