the Edge

I am falling

In love,

And I have
Guyed myself

To the edge

Of the precipice...

I feel the heat of passion
In front of me,

I feel the cool breeze of reason
Behind me...

I hang here

Feeling the gravity;
Feeling the pull

On my heart....

My thoughts...

Suspend me
From sanity's ceiling...

If I step off

Are they strong enough
To save me? "

    Pulled me in...

I was wanting to read the next line to find out what was going to happened. I had to read it twice to catch the meaning of I have Guyed myself to the edge. That is one term I would never use in a poem (or anywhere else for that matter). I've Girled myself pretty close a few times. This poem has a great feel to it. My favorite lines were:
I feel the heat of passion
    in front of me,
I feel the cool breeze of
    reason behind,
This is a very interesting poem. I enjoyed very much.

HOw wonderful and original! I love the breathless quality, the consistency of urge carried throughtout.
Nice effect. I'm curious as to what you mean by guyed.
I'm sure to look it up. Thank you for taking the time to enter,
