When eternity held my hand in hers,
and whispered promises in my ears,
when she told me I would live in her
I didn't know that she only spoke in years.
When tomorrow held my hand in his
and spoke to me of dreams and hope,
when he told me of what was waiting
I didn't know I'd be swinging from rope.
When right now came and claimed my soul
and told me I'd been led astray
tears poured for my broken heart,
how easy I'd been to betray.
