House of Memories by Sensual Angel at All poetry

Open the door she said
come on in, you know
that’s what you’ve been
wanting to do since years ago

I opened the door
hoping that the one person

I really loved & truly missed,
would be there to welcome me in.

I searched every room
in this beautiful & quaint
little house.
It was way too quiet

I looked in the kitchen
no one was there
the bedroom, the living room
all finding the same.

No one was there
quietly I walked up the stairs
heartbeat increasing with every step
palms began to sweat.

Knowing deep inside
she hasn’t been in this house
since the day she died
all that I hear in my mind

are just memories
of a past I can't seem to forget
just whispers of her voice
saying come on in

welcome home baby girl
your mommy’s been with you
every step of the way
I’m in your heart, I’ve been there
from the very start.

I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for. this is about my biological mom. she passed away when I was almost 3. she's always been with me.

oh my, this is definitely one of the best pieces I have read from you. This has a haunting sadness that while at first is seemingly detached from the prompt, it soon becomes evident that "beyond the door" is a flood of recollections filled with sadness and love. great write.

this makes me so sad honey. If only we could go to a house made only of memories, just be there with them, make these long lost loved ones come back to life for a while. You'd want your Mom, I'd want my Dad. They say that's how it is in Heaven, but what do they know?
