The New Dark Spirit You Turn On And Let Into Your Home

Visions from the past were only make believe,
yet today we bring them all into our homes don't you see.
With a click of your mouse you never feel the chill,
yet he draws you into his lair a kingdom of fear at will.

In this day and age he so takes your heart and soul,
you bring to his view your face and where you go.
Time and time again you even talk with him each day,
the pedophile the murderer and the stalker today you call friend's so displayed.

Oh the way of words even the most evil take's your hand ,
guides you down the liars path you think it's him and then.
The young so innocent falls and was asked to meet,
only the one your looking at on the internet it's not really me.

It's the taker's little black book of pain,
only it's electronic and he takes again and again.
Where evil has been given the reins,
to take our children and adults for we all play the game.

Tammy was only eight and she had a computer of her own,
no one ever watched what she was into or where she roamed.
Day after day he was always there,
pretending to be her friend and even a photo he shared.

One day her being so excited he asked her to meet him in town,
she kept it a secret even from her friends around.

She slipped out one night so excited though she didn't know,
it would be her last for the horror took hold.

Imagine being taken and used as a muse for death,
Imagine being sliced and carved by someone unknown you bet.
She screams yet he knows her screams would be unheard,
and her eyes saw pain even within each of his words.

No one ever found her for he disposed of her so completely,
dropped her after he was finished in a vat of acid you see.
Oh no she wasn't dead just he had lost his muse,
and today he searches for another it could possibly be you.

Then there was Jamie he was only nine,
met this young girl one night on line.
Oh a pretty little thing and so full of life,
only Jamie never saw the real person behind that face that night.

Yes he agreed to meet her and as like with Tammy no one knew,
and he left within the night with plans of going to the zoo.
He stood quietly waiting for her there,
when a man came by and took him without a care.

Children disapear every day,
beware of the computer for they will find a way .
To trick you and take you then life will end ,
for they get your trust then the horror  begins.

Every night  is Halloween night within our electronic age,
a playground for the devil has he come your way.
I am sure he has yet you never knew,
tell me does he know today where to find you.

    Bravo!

This one is going to be read to my granddaughter who is 11 years old and loves the computer. I recently found that she had created a MY SPACE account! I was shocked! Thank God I do monitor her activities or I would not have known. Your poem is just the message this child needs, unfortunately! Thank you. It is a shame that this is so true, but it definitely is. Excellent job!

This poem was devastatingly real. It happens every day and the message should be told over and over again for they do not hear. You did a wonderful job in this write and should be applauded for speaking out. This is definitely a horror story for Halloween but all too true. Good Luck in the contest. God Bless, Jo-Ann

The reality of this is a slap in the face; I have met others online but always, always told my parents where I'd be, always had my phone on me and change in case I needed the payphone and always had a friend join me. It is heartbreaking how few actually do this, any of this and risk their lifes for someone they do not know.

I met David here online and we're now married but we spent over 9 months talking on the phone and showing photos and talking to each others families before we met face to face

This is a chilling dark write is what I'm trying to say
    Sorry for babbling

    Stay safe

    Wow

Definatly great poem and the word does need to be spread. It's amazing how evil people will be, and how digusting the worlds can get. It;s not your usual topic and is a great wake-up call to those who don't usually think about it. Sometimes one can be cautious but then get more comfortable as time goes on. It's important to me I think to maintain that awarness of what you are doing on the net. It's also a funny bit of a paradox as you've placed this warning on the net for all here on ap to see. A fitting exclimation point for the piece. Good job!

This is an important poem and needs wide circulation . Some thoughts:

"the pedophile the murderer and the stalker today you call friends so displayed" is both a clumsy line and overlong without clarity. "reigns" should be "reins", "liars path" should be "liar's path", "takers" should be "taker's",
"a playground for the devil has he come your way." should be: " a playground for the devil, has he come your way?"

this sent shivers down my spine; i hope i wont be having nightmares tonight at the thought of it all but how true are your words - there is so much carelessness in the world today no wonder people vanish without a doubt.... scary .. and terrifying ... you told their stories well.

So very true; the dark side of the computer. Gives me chills how insidious it can be. Scary stuff here ! Evil shows it's ugly face everywhere. Like it says in the Bible; the Devil rules the airways - only now it's called cyberspace. Thanks for sharing! Karen

    OMG,
    this is so true,
in this day and age you just cant tell the real person behind the screen.
It's really good you shared this write with everyone,
at least it gives them the heads up, especially the younger ones like you said.
    Very well done
    Ken

Powerful write, scary because of the truth it contains. Many kids can not imagine the risks and the danger and therefore choose to share information that they shouldn't. Others do not feel that people at home are listening to them and look online to find someone who "understands" them. Nice write, best of luck in the contest. The internet has definitely changed the world in many ways, both for the better and for the worse.

An awesome piece depicting two very disturbing stories of which similar ones happen every day throughout this world. Good advice and a great warning. Wish all could read before acting.

Wow, every child and adult should read this poem as a reminder of what's out there. It's a dark and dangerous age of the internet. No one knows who or what lurks behind that anonymous screen. Well done!!

I admire the remit of the poetess and the poem to make children aware of the new devil in disguise, the cyber predator, the paedophile, who sits unseen akin to a fox in his lair, using his cunning to ensnare our precious children.

I won't offer a constructive critique, I offer you a hug, if this poem prevents even one child from an encounter with the evil intentions of a paedophile then you will have the greatest trophy of all and I sincerely hope that all our children across the 'Net are protected from these monsterous men.

    Good advice to all children.

Never state your location/school/places you hang out.
Never send pictures or accept them.
    Never arrange to meet anyone
    For any reason!

If any question makes a child feel uncomfortable then they shouldn't answer it but show a parent or tell the teacher if it's at school. Shockingly here in the UK we are asked to sign a form saying the children have to take personal responsibility for the use of the computers for there are no, as yet, perfected deterrents.

Enough of my rambling, but I feel so strongly about this.

wonderfully written. it is such a shame that this continues to happen everyday. the internet can be a great place to connect with friends, but is like you said, "a playground for the devil". keep up the good work.
