Inconvenienced

The thinker once thought that he knew
That he had new thinking to do
But sadly each thought
Had already been wrought
So he wasted his time on the loo

Author notes

Loo is British for "the can", "the john", "the toilet", "the smallest room" in other words that place where we all go to "think"

Now Jeff this shows you are witty
    In penning this thoughtful ditty
    I wonder, yanno
If in this room where you go
If the thoughts that you thunk are....uh...pretty?

Isn't America wonderful! With one's credit card, you can purchase every sin known to humankind - and some that aren't - but you're not allowed to say "toilet"!

"The Men's Room" - I mean, what self-respecting woman would be seen dead in there anyway...

"The Powder Room" - ok, just for comparison. It's where you go to take a powder, I suppose.

"The Rest Room" - you tried resting in there? I mean, come ON!

"The Bathroom" - well it is just about possible to take a bath in there, but only one leg at a time!

"The John" - now this I like. The White House surely has a whole suite of them. You can imagine being a guest there, and discreetly sidling out of the Oval Office, and asking a black-suited Secret Serviceman, "Excuse me, can you direct me to the 'John'?"... He would check up and down the corridor, and then say "Certainly, sir..." (or madam, as the case may be) "... just carry on down this corridor, past the Franklin D Roosevelt Lounge, turn left at the Harry S Truman Library, and right at the Richard M Nixon dumbwaiter, and it's the green door."

"Wrought" rather than "taught", I think, and then it will be in the "Not Bad Limerick" quartile.

You could also read a magazine which would lead to some kind of thought, depending on whether it was the National Enquirer or The Economist.

    Enjoyed your write.
