In living in a free country all of my life,
it's hard to imagine not having freedom through my eyes.
I know the world lives in many ways,
and I thank God America is my home today.
Where else can you live where ever you please,
tell me what other country has ever been so free.
To have schools and hospitals and such wonders of life,
we come in many colors together for our country we fight.
I have lived fifty four years within this free land,
seen families raised with love hand in hand.
Through my years their was respect and discipline indeed,
and I feel today it is is what our country so needs.
Our children today watching the election of the day,
and what I see so much of is their bickering in childish ways.
Little being said where it should really count,
and the young are watching don't you think it's time to grow up now.
I so pray for a president that see's freedom and love for this country as it should be.
I so pray that even the youngest of our citizens this they do see.
Why do our adults fight amongst each other in front of the world,
what is this teaching our boys and girls.
You want to see change then let's do it right,
make the bills sent to congress be of ones the country first that's right!
No pork is spoken of not one mixed within,
until we get this country back in shape again.
Make the laws against drugs top priority and then,
get the families in this country back on track again.
For without the drugs the abuse and abortions and murder rate would subside,
and this country can get their children back that's right.
In our schools lets make them schools once again,
and put discipline back in our homes and schools to begin.
For when they took discipline away from the families and schools,
our children have become lost and playing a wicked duel.
Give everyone a job and make it a 4 day week,
giving every parent more time with their children you see.
Make the earnings match our economy and you will see,
their will be more money then for the government indeed.
Bring our factories back home and their will be workers to fill their need,
Let not a dime be sent out to other countries without something in return indeed.
Stop the fighting amongst us here at home,
and make this country once again the finest ever known.
Make a chip to fit every computer today,
to block all the filth that has come our way.
Protect our children and help them grow ,
for today they are being taught so wrong from them you know.
You want to know what our next generation thinks today?
Then slow down long enough and ask them I would say.
They aren't invisible they have been here all along,
but they complain as well for they hear a different song.
Put our country back as it was founded with our belief-es and love,
put our pledge allegiance back and pray to the man above.
We each have our Gods so let it be don't deny others don't you see.
Yes we are a country with many colors indeed
and we were all doing fine until the government segregated us you see.
For we should be able to choose for ourselves where we want to be .
Forcing belief-es yet we were never asked,
make the funds to every school the same for every class.
Look not at our colors but what is inside,
and you will find the love for this country is the same in all our eyes.

AMEN Ms. Patty!
THIS IS YOU area of expertise sweetheart, you've come right out of the startinf gate, wild and true, and headed stright for home. I agree with everythng you say. We've had so many things change in the past several hundred years, and it's a shame. Men like Jefferson, Daniel Boone, the Clark boys, Sam Houston, the list goes on, these guys wouldn't have tolerated these jokers running our country, for any money in the world.
Excellent entry, Ms Patty, love to you and Sonny,

Wonderful Poem
A beautiful poem about our wonderful country. So many values of yesterday seem to be getting lost on the young in this age of technology. Good to read some positive things about our country. God Bless America.
Bless You Too,
Sandy

Another proud American; there are so many out there, and yet while many poems are written on teh topic, each one manages to open up a new part of America for us to see [those of us who are not American / do not live there, that is!]
I lived in Boston for three months, and loved every moment of it. Someday, I would like to go back there again for a while, but gaining legal access is just so *hard.*
Particularly liked;
"I have lived fifty four years within this free land,
seen families raised with love hand in hand."
Thought that was truly a lovely sentiment!

Good sentiments.
You hit the nail on the head in so many ways. Your perspective should give a lot of people something to think about. All of it is just good common sense. We do have a wonderful country but the leaders need to get back to the basics and as you stated stop the in-fighting and pettishness. They also need to govern with the common sense that they were taught from thier parents, and not the greed that they seem to be useing now days. Good job on this. Good luck in the contest.
