If it wasn't fictional it would probably fit in option 2 as well.
As for a background story, written yesterday at the pub...sad, drunk and the lyrics just poured out.

wow what a sad and heartfelt song. altho I liked it, I really liked the description and the way you have structured and ordered the piece, it brings structure and better meaning to the song. The words are fitted together perfectly, a piece that would probably make me cry if I heard somebody singing it as it is meant to be sung....
