New Puppy

The needle pierces

chenille plush fabric beginnings

to pattern happiness

from a selfless deed.

Track markings in clear thread

are the tidings of a divorced mind

from its own self.

Focused for the moment

on creating a comfort

for another.

The future looks brighter

through eyes without guile

and a smile that could melt

a polar bear.

Author notes

For Allison. I hope she likes her new puppy I made for her. Allison is a child going through chemo. I made a puppy for her when she lost her own a few weeks back. Perspective takes hold, when those like myself realize there are children going through the same things we are as an adult.

A beautiful write for Alison. Heartfelt and poignant. Lovely depth of feeling. Very nice presentation. Each word knitted together shows your love for her. Good word choice, nice alliteration and assonance. Well penned. You have just been hood-winked by a member of The Poetic Bandits.

Oh Hetha, this is a poignant and lovely poem that says so much between it's brief lines. I'm glad this young girl and you have met, and that in providing comfort for her, you found comfort also. Beautiful.

I earnestly hope that both of you are soon on the road to good health.

I love your background, by the way!

This is a really sad piece given the AN. I like how the people is slightly hopeful and I enjoyed reading this. I hope things work out for the kid and you. Cheers

There is such emotion within your lines and perhaps a reminder to be more understanding of others experiences....it is not all about me when we live in a world where many think it is about them...the X generation. You held my attention through the pain to that beautiful ending we can melt a polar bear heart with a little more love. Thank you for this my poetic journey of this Hood Wink... am holding you in my prayers as you travel your own journey.

It's hard to know what to say without sounding condescending...Allison is a lucky girl to have you supporting her and you're a fortunate lady sharing her smiles. I wish you both lots of strength on your journey and as always, lots and lots of love.
I love you Sis and I'm with you even when you sleep.
