I looked across the street at the run down pub, its flickering, red neon sign reading ‘Blood Red’. The scent of human was strong, so the pub was not a blood bank for vampires.1
‘Shame really,’ I thought, ‘I’m feeling rather thirsty.’2
“Damon is in there.” Dante broke through my thoughts as he growled at the mention of Damon.3
I did not blame him; the bastard turned him in to a wolf, which was why we were crouching in a rat infested alleyway. We had been hunting this witch down for years.4
“You’re sure Damon is in ‘Blood Red’?” I asked.5
Dante nodded, “Yes.”6
“Okay then,” I stroked the soft fur between his ears and looked at the pub again, “You’re to stay here while I drag him out.”7
“Ivy…”8
“Don’t start, Dante,” I said sternly, “You are to stay here. I don’t think the humans would be too fond of a wolf walking in to their pub.”9
He growled to him self, but did not move to join me as I crossed the street and opened the door to the pub.10
I nearly choked on the stench of cigarette smoke and the scent of humans as I walked in. The ring of the bell above the door declared my entrance and a few men that looked up dropped their cigarettes and openly stared, their mouths hanging open. Chuckling, I made my way to the empty bar stool beside Damon.11
He looked as much the scum bag as I had thought, from what Dante had told me.12
“What would you like Ms?” the young bartender asked, fidgeting nervously.13
“Just a ‘Bloody Mary’, thanks,” I smiled.14
He nodded and walked away.15
Looking about the room as I waited for my drink, I realised that ‘Blood Red’ looked worse on the inside than it did on the outside.16
“$8.50 thanks Ms,” the bartender said as he placed my drink in front of me.17
“Please, this one is on me,” Damon interrupted.18
“Uh… Thanks..,” I forced a smile.19
He smiled and paid the bartender, “You’re most welcome. The name is Damon by the way,” he extended his hand.20
I shook his hand, “I know who you are…”21
Damon raised an eyebrow, “Oh, really?”22
Grinning, I tightened my grip on his hand and pulled him closer, “Yes really. I’m here on behalf of a mutual friend.”23
“Who?”24
“Oh, I’m sure you already know who, Damon,” I sneered as I pulled him up and after me.25
“What are you doing?”26
I dragged him past the tables and to the door as he began to struggle.27
“What the hell are you doing!?” He yelled, his struggles becoming frantic.28
The men in the pub just stared as I kicked open the door and dragged him out behind me.29
“You crazy bitch! Let go of me!”30
“Shut up!” I snapped and threw him against the wall of the alleyway.31
Dante padded out of the shadows a growl rumbling deep in his chest, his teeth beared and black fur raised.32
I sneered at Damon as he wiped blood from where his head smashed against the wall, the thick, rich scent of his blood making the thirst burn in my throat.33
‘It’s been a while since I’ve tasted witch blood…’ I shook my self mentally, ‘Keep your mind on the job Ivy; you’ve kept it in check when there was more blood around you then this.’34
“You do remember Dante, don’t you Damon?”35
Damon’s gaze flicked between me and Dante, the sour smell of his fear becoming stronger as he stared at Dante, stalking towards him still.36
“Wh…What do you want?” he stuttered.37
I raised an eyebrow, “Do I really need to answer that question for you or aren’t you smart enough to figure it out your self, stupid witch?”38
He looked to Dante again then back at me, “You want me to reverse the curse,” he said smugly.39
“Congratulations!” I said sarcastically, clapping my hands, “You answered your own question,” I glared at him, “Yes we want you to reverse the curse.”40
“And if I don’t?”41
Dante pounced on Damon, his jaw locking around his throat with a snarl. 42
I grinned, “And if you don’t, Dante here will tear you to shreds…”43
Damon began to shake in Dante’s hold, sweat beading on his forehead, “O…Okay…I’ll do it…” his voice trembling.44
Dante let him go, but his amber eyes never left Damon as he began to speak in a tongue I didn’t understand.45
“Damon, love…?” interrupted a voice from the mouth of the alleyway.46
I turned to the silhouette, just as a white light surrounded Dante, “Get lost!”47
The figure came forward, “Wh... What are you doing Damon?”48
“I said get lost, bitch” I snarled49
Still the figure moved closer, not heading my warning. Temper rising and my impatience being stretch to its limit I sprung at her, having her in a headlock before she knew what had happened.50
“Are you deaf?!” my fangs brushing her skin, “Or just stupid!?”51
Her body trembled in my grip and I could hear the frantic beating of her heart pumping blood through her body. She began to struggle against my hold, her arms and legs flailing.52
“Let go of me!” she shrieked, "Damon!"53
In the back of my mind I registered the sound of a terrible scream. But it was drowned out by the cry of the stranger as I sank my teeth in, her blood having the slight tint of cinnamon to its taste as it flooded into my mouth.54
I dropped the body and looked up to where Dante was last, the sound of running feet telling me that Damon had fled.55
“Dante…?” I said in surprise, as my eyes fell upon the naked man that lay on the ground.56
He groaned as he rolled his head and looked at me. I moved closer and cradled him against me.57
“The bastard didn’t finish the spell…”58
