To Get Away

She wants to get away.
She wants to be someplace safe.
She wants to be comforted by a warm face.
But all she can remember is his painful embrace.

He says that no one wants her,
As she tries to break away from this monster.
She wants to leave
But he won’t let her be.

He said he would always find her
And bring her back.
He says they’ll be together forever.

There’s no escape from this hell,
He will forever hold her in his spell.
But she’s had enough, she’s done.
She doesn’t want anymore of this “fun.”

She runs as fast as her legs will carry her.
As she silently says a prayer,

Let me become unseen
By this cruel unnatural fiend.
I have lived years with his cruelty.
I have survived his brutality.

Free me from this unworthy fate.
I am so desperate,
To be able flee,
To be set free

He has finally found her.
She can’t run any further,
Trapped by the river.

He wants her to come back,
To come back and face the fact
She can not survive,
He is the only one who keeps her alive.

She does not believe his lies.
He will not decide whether she lives or dies.
She will not be intimidated
By this man she severely hated.

He tried to grab her,
He said he would always have her.
She escaped his grip
And made him trip.

He fell into the river.
The water was so cold he couldn’t shiver.
He drifted under the ice.
That’s what happened to the man who heart was colder than ice.

She watched him go under.
Her mind was in a blunder.
She couldn’t quite comprehend
That the one who wanted her will to bend
Was finally gone
In that icy hell where he belongs.
