“Curdled 92708”
It always stings the most
when you go to take that drink and its clear you waited far to long
You can still recall what sweet tasted like
but are now forced to deal with bitter
You can always spit it up,
Knowing you look like a fool in front of everyone
Or you can take a big gulp, save face, and force it down.
Knowing that you will feel sick later
But maybe, just maybe you can convince your body otherwise
Tell it that’s the way it’s supposed to taste, as if heartache was an acquired taste
Body and minds have a way of knowing when you’re lying to them though
And as hard as you try you still end up with that rotten feeling of rotten food, rotting in your rotten soul
And the expiration date still marks twenty years of failure.
