A breeze ruffles
the black sheen of bundled
flight that alights
on my abandoned
plastic tabletop,
sticky with dripped coffee, and
pecks at breadcrumbs
left crumbled for it.
It eats its fill and
flies away, wind catching
glossy feathers
full and fat for now. But
one day, that beak will
peck, peck, peck
at my door again, asking
for more crumbs at a time
when I will not have
any more crumbs to give.
Author notes
Option 5: Write a five-line poem.
Any suggestions? I like comments that point out my faults but don't completely bash me either.
