The fire consumed you; burning you from within.
And I watched helplessly, knowing that this was the bitter end.
Still you clutched my hand, gave me an angel's prayer;
Realization occured, and I knew you'd never again join me in my love's lair.
And the Angel of death stole you away,
And my unbeating heart began to fade;
Then came the deserting warmth of your hand,
From there I knew;
I knew this would be the bitter end.
Once-heavenly eyes; dropped their last of tears.
Please God, let this be just a figment of my deepest fear!
Your hand was slipping, and came your hushed whisper.
And the snow fell! The air becoming cold and crisper.
And your soul ascended into the Heavens,
And my heart was torn with the heaviest of chains.
The final plea, and you were gone,
My lost love was pulled before the dawn,
And came this bitter, tragic end..
Author notes
This poem is/was strictly based off an old fictional story of mine which I recently found. The two souls that are suppose to be depicted in this poem are two of the characters from said story; Ravenel, and his lover Kittie.
In the story, Kittie is a police officier, and Ravenel a hybrid vampire. (Yes, this is a fictional story!) Well, the two meet and begin a relationship that lasts almost a year, but the two also have their differences. One: Ravenel isn't quite human because of his vampire traits, and 2: Kittie, being in the police business, is always called off on duties.
During which, as you can probably guess, Kittie ends up dying. It's quite a tragic story, and deserved a poem!
