I think you have him where you want him
Right where he ought to be
And doing what he needs to do
Your health to oversee
And about the laundry and the dishes
As he’s become quite apt in his expertise
You just sit back and relax, dear Queen
Just live a life of ease
I know he’s loving every chance
To do your beckon call
I hear it in the beat of his heart
And in his footsteps down the hall
So take advantage while you can, Edna
For soon you shall be well and then
He’ll be back to his old self
Our devoted King Hugh again

Just live a life of ease

Get that ankle well now, Edna
You are the Queen; you do rule
You are in charge of the King
Take that Hugh back to school
On cleaning everything!

Delightful and amusing... made me smile

Awww now I want to get sick so someone will come wait on me! Sad thing is though nobody will, at BEST they'll just leave me alone so i can sleep.
So Queen Edna must be feeling really loved right now, and thats wonderful. Dont forget the chicken soup! -
A little break is excellent
to break monotony
A little freedom from the chores
is often nice to see
A little taking of the time
to kick back when you can
Cause like you state it goes by fast
then back at work again
So put the feet up on the couch
and get ready for a treat
A special brand new baked cake
with a side of ice cream to eat
Hugs...Eddy

Congratulations Dee on your Green trophy for your humerous poem describing Hugh perfectly.
Anymore plans of going to New Zealand? Sharon and I are going Oct 2009 it would be great to meet up there.

Ahhh... Dee this is so real to me. It's been so long since I had Ray wait on me hand and foot (so to speak). You are so right, Queen Edna had better take good advantage of her time of rest because work waits just around the corner from healing.

Great sentiments that made me smile and I am sure Queen Edna is smiling too. I see a little smile on King Hugh's face as well.
The best to you in the contest.
Much Love ♥

Hahaha! Sexist! LOL Laughed at quite a few places in this whimsical take on Edna's recuperation period. Good work!

A little humor is good for the soul...good luck

Dear Dee, Hugh is wonderful with Edna, she couldn't have a better carer and Husband.
And what you've written here is so true even to the footsteps down the hall coming from the kitchen to the lounge room or bedroom with a cuppa tea and bikky.
Hopefully they'll operate on her ankle and that will help Hugh to be able to relax more.
Love Joan

excellent~
Your quite correct
She should take advantage while she can
For once she is well she is back on the road again
A great get well message
Best of luck in the contest sis

Dear Dee, now this one should put a smile on Queen Edna's and Hugh's faces. And what you have written is exactly what he does, he's very apt now at doing the housework, now I think I'll teach Heath so I can sit back and relax. I'm flying home to Christchurch tomorrow, can't wait to see my Heath.

very sweet and humourous piece, love the flow and rhythm to this piece!

Hahaha
Dear Dee.
This had me chuckling away. It is good to see some humour to make the heart feel a little less burdened in such a sad situation.
A Very clever write. I enjoyed this.
Good luck in the contest.

I love this poem, it made me laugh at the end.I am all to familiar with that story,as I think a lot of women are.Luckily for me now I have a wonderful man in my life that does dishes, cooks and does laundry even when I am not sick.Cute poem, I enjoyed it, as I always enjoy your work

-
Dear Dee, From the way Hugh talks about Edna being ill I reckon you have described the scene well.
It's no fun being sick on your own and good to have some TLC. I do hope Edna gets well very soon.

-
To be ill and not have anyone to do things for us is a double punishment. I think that Our King is the kitchen prince now, and can do better than many women can.
Smiles help a lot the healing process, and you with your poem have added lots of smiles

How sweet a thought, "Queen Edna Rules,"
empowering her to gain some joy from
her forced state of rest, which indeed
could make her feel Queenly with all
that Kingly super-attention.

This is cute and smart humour, Dee, thanks for bringing this bit of fun along with your good wishes. When she beckons, he drops everything - "beck and call" is an old phrase but a good one.
Soon I hope Hugh will have other concerns for his hands and his pen. Enjoy your holiday! Best of luck in this contest!

Dear Dee,
You've hit the nail right on the head
and got the scene off pat
for Edna spends most days in bed
while I do this and that.
If she were ill at any time
I'd do it all again
but, as her heart gets better, it's
her ankle givers her pain.
She cannot bear to walk or stand,
painkillers don't affect
so I do everything she wants.
What else would you expect?
and, when my gammy leg gives out
and I feel like giving in,
I take another swig of scotch
and bear it with a grin.
I'm thrilled that you managed to put in an entry
and we love its message and the rhyme and jaunty meter.
The Queen is reading a thick book about the six wives of Henry VIII (by David Starkey). I'm sure she's more impressed with my TLC and cooking than what that other king was wont to give his wives!!
Hope your holiday with Darlene is going well.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

From King to servant...I may steal that crown yet!

It's never good to be sick but one small perk is when people wait on you. I know I always enjoy a little pampering...not that I ever get it...poor me.
That's an interesting side thingie on the left, those bugs. It matches in well with the tan background.
May our Queen reach full health so that Hugh can resume his duties as King...I have a feeling he's going to send me to the dungeon, and since court torturer is my role, I guess I'll have to flog myself...that sounds weird.
