First blush of love
all dressed in pink
with lips that spoke
eternal links.
Bud wrapped tight
awaiting birth
to awakening hands
of lover's worth.
Petals opened
in velvet grace
exploring wonders
of true heart's place.
When suddenly
a chill was felt
as icy hands
to love was dealt.
As wistful azure
flowed through veins
of love once felt
lay no remains.
As glow of pledge
turned fragile blue
surrounding world
then lost all hue.
Never now
to fully bloom
in life's cruel tragedy
consumed.
