We were young,
Radiant.
Bathed in platinum and
in our prime.
They stuck us behind invisible
fences
A school for waywards
and weird ones
In the cricket soundtracked countryside
Away from our beautiful cities
away from screaming sunlight laughter
and those friends that would bleed
if necessary to hold back the dogs
of daily humiliation.
We found solace in songs by the cure
we found safety in garish display.
"Do not touch"
Screamed with a peacocks multihued
cry.
We tattooed ourselves with india ink
And spent a week in jail.
Now as I sit here with the baby that I
Love more than life but,
Never asked for, never expected
I panic and contract
in a life made crazier by times
rapid insistence I
wonder what's become of you-
Has time left stains and scars on you as well?
Have you curled inward like dying spiders
has the light inside
slowly shrunken and collapsed?
I have so many things I'd like to ask you
if I could only find the words.

Whoa! This is definitely and eye opener! Very descriptive in your words. Thanks for entering. Keep the ink flowing and good luck!

this was epic.
I loved:
We tattooed ourselves with india ink
And spent a week in jail.
So much affection and wistfulness and life in just two lines..very very good. Good luck in the contest.
