Thoughts rush in like a coming storm,
bringing a fog to fill my mind,
all my emotions cling inside
and I am blind.
Too many times I've felt heartbreak,
too many times betrayed you see
and I don't know if I can forget
what you've done to me.
So often I search your face
as if it was a foreign place
and wonder what to do
to get over you.
Fog fades all the colors
that were recompense for your worst.
Now I'm adrift in the sadness;
we've lost love unrehearsed.
If only this was a dream
and everything that we had
was again blossoming new spring
love wouldn't feel so bad.
So often I search your face
as if it was a foreign place
and wonder what I can do
to get over you.
Time has ground my heart into dust
grievous sins make me want to flee
and I don't know if I can forget
what you've done to me.
You are my sickness and I can't get well
no real remedy so I'm lost to me,
wrapped inside all my regrets
in a holocaust of memory.

I like the sound of this... it'd be great put to music. You have some nice imagery. I especially liked the face like a foreign place and the unrehearsed love. Thanks for your entry.

I am glad to hear that you are no longer in this place of allowing someone else to define who you are. It is a tough place to be when one feels so beaten down by another who was supposed to love and care about us. This is a wonderful emotional release here, and I find writing can be so healing. Great job on this write! I see one typo in the seventh stanza, line two, "I'm" should be "I". Blessings, Patty

Sad
Sometimes we feel we deserve no better and so we stay with the one that is bad to us. You are much more than that and you deserve more. I'm glad to see you moved on. Remember, only to learn from it and have a great life! The Shaker
