Shades Of Red

Missing image

While Mother Nature wears her cloak of gold
all interspersed with many shades of red,
just like an artists brush with strokes so bold
she paints the landscape now that Summer’s fled

The farmers harvest fields of golden grain
and ripened apples hang on every tree,
the land is kissed by gentle Autumn rain
to emphasize the beauty that we see

A russet carpet lays upon the ground
protection from the Winter’s bitter cold.
all life below will sleep without a sound
as Autumn days release their fiery hold

The sun grows cool and Autumn’s days must end
a biting Winter’s chill will soon descend

This is a lovely write, very rich in imagery and colour; that picture fit perfectly, and it almost makes me wish it were fall again. Well done, and thanks for entering

Autumn is a spectacular season of year matched by no other for its ever changing show of fiery colours. All seasons have good and bad in them for people. While the winter can sometimes seem to last an eternity in this country it is the wet I don't like rather than the cold. The autumn tends to give crisp mornings with frost or dew which provides the outdoors with a new cloak and something to be admired in each new day. As always you capture the mood of the season so well. Good luck in the contest

What would we say of Autumn without Sue
A sonnet filled with all the season's fare
You write in ways that always make her new
You drape your words through Autumn's tousled hair

What could we say of Autumn without you
You fill your rhyme with Autumn's finest fruit
It seems the season must belong to Sue
And writing of your pet your fond pursuit

What can we say of Sue now it is fall
A poetess who paints the season's best
She'll always answer to that special call
And write to us about her season's zest

When Sue is set about September's end
She'll write until she drives us round the bend
