Gunshots heard as we turned the corner
someone running in front of the car
breaks applied but not soon enough.
Crashing through the windshield,
glass going everywhere, my eyes burn
and the pain is so extreme.
Operation nothing can be done,
I leave thinking that is that,
till someone said one could help me.
Went there and all he did was place
wires in my eyes as the eyeballs were removed,
and added a small chemical to my skin.
I no longer could see, these wires
were all anyone would ever know of my eyes,
and the chemical would eat my flesh off.
So, as I was sent out to live on the streets,
no one would ask for my name,
for whom was I anyway.
My beauty and my family and friends
thoughts of them running aways
through out my mind.
But what was killing me slowly,
was my skin peeling from me,
one long strip at a time.

You really put yourself into the mind set of the prompt. I believe this was the toughest prompt given in the contest. Well done.
