We wept;
With heavy keys about our necks,
we fell into the ocean;
We died on the stillness of horizon,
we groped without rest
among the curling weeds of the dark, salty bottoms.
We were fish, and corals, and sharks;
We clouded our legs with fins,
our hearts with the flow of rumbling spray.
Ah, and do not fear that we should drown!
The current sweeps our oxygen
into gulps of impetuous sea;
We are one with the motion, we rise and fall.
The surface has fallen under a roof of discovery.
And still, we search.
