Artful Dreams

Artful Dreams

Awaiting, is this dreamer’s heart
Regrets abating with ticket in hand
Tendrils of thought have entangled my mind
For I have been caught in this moment of time
Unleashing the keepsake that holds me here
Leaving the heartache and ready to go

Dreamers surround me all waiting to go
Reason confounds me, I think with my heart
Each soul in this airport wants to leave here
Anxious control with their ticket in hand
Magazine daydreams, the plane was on time
So many extremes but we did not mind

I waited on line with a wondering mind
All was just fine when we started to go
I fastened my belt and then checked the time
I know how I felt with a pounding heart
I held on tight with a knuckle white hand
And knew it was right, I could not stay here

The pilot announced, we’re finally here
It’s all so pronounced and dwells in my mind
The landing was smooth and a girl took my hand
She said we must move, it was time to go
I smiled so sweetly, she had a big heart
I remember completely, we landed on time

I was invited, I’d have a great time,
I felt so excited, glad to be here
The work of the master would change my heart
I avoided disaster and losing my mind
It was opening night and I got to go
With art to delight by the artist’s hand

I stood on my toes and I squeezed my hand
My heart nearly froze this moment in time
I was raptured in art and let my mind go
I knew from the start that I belonged here
The artist’s conception took over my mind
A lasting perception that opened my heart

The work of his hand was on display here
Art to expand both time and my mind
This work so grand captured my heart

After rereading, I realize you are missing "go" in the envoy's last line. "This work so grand captured my heart" It is a wonderful write though. Thanks again for entering.

Everyone has already said with more flair everything I would have wanted to express about this write. So I will just gasp, and sigh, and smile...fully satified and replete.

I apologize dear, for this tardy comment, my absence from AP of late is to blame.
The poem is hypnotic. I find myself thinking to the 'meter' even as I write this. Images are vivid yet have a dream quality and a sense of inevitability is built by the poetic beat.
    It's a drug, a lovely drug.
I will always think of you when I look at this drawing.

    Thank you

    love

Your appreciation of the arts is profound, it travels over any distance and devours what is

spread out over vast walls to enjoy. There is much to be said for going to view an exhibition of art, it is like taking a shower in warm oils, and watercolored dreams...lovely write and tribute to david Mott.

This is a very very well crafted sestina, with a bit of acrostic too. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for entering the contest.

So cryptic and descriptive. And, the pattern of rhyme dances about so artfully. You are so incredible. No one could have this sort of talent and not be immortal. You already have that honor.

I don't think I have ever read a Sestina in this meter, a very heavy rhymed caesura adds a completely different flavour. A masterclass in the form, superb.
The story telling, rhyme and setina-ness all top class.
