After School

Time is up, the end is here
But still yet my future is unclear
After college is over what will I do
I wish my forseeable future I only knew
Will I be a doctor and be filthy rich
Will I be a school nurse and turn into a witch
I can work at fast food making minimal wage
I can take my act to Broadway or some other big stage
Being a janitor, I would get to wipe crap off the walls
If I wanted to be a telemarketer I would make a ton of phone calls
I could spread the gospel by being a preacher
Or I can spread knowledge by being a school teacher
Starting my own business, i would sell a bunch of cars
I could work for the CIA or FBI and put the bad guys behind bars
I can be an attractive male model
Or a stay at home daddy who changes diapers and bottles
I could run for president and start my own campaign
Rocket scientist I could be, but then I'd go insane
I could play in the NFL or NBA
If I did I'd have to practive everyday
I could be a choir or motion picture director
I could be J. Lo's body guard and have to protect her
Maybe I could sell real estate
If I were a lawyer I could always be late
I could get really big and drive a large truck
I could do favors to make a quick buck
I could write poetry or become a writer
I can jump in a ring and be a pro fighter
All of my goals in life I need to be reminded
I guess my future is still undecided

It might give you some food for thought!

This is a brilliant write. You have included so many possible ideas for your future... I hope whatever you end up doing, it makes you happy!

I see you have been asking people, randomly, to read your poetry...good idea… no harm in a bit of self promotion... but don't forget to read and comment on others too!

    Have fun!

Hey, you know what, that was pretty good. I mean, I dont know if I could have combined all of those ideas. Excellent job.

Any specific reason that you wanted me to read your poetry?

This is a nice, sweet poem. Although, your rhyming does seem a little forced at times. Barbie. Xx

I like it. It really rhymes. I like the way that it flows. I don't really know what I want to be yet either, but I think that I am going to be a lawyer. That will probably be it. I hope you find something you want to do. And soon so you can start working on it.

so, the big question is, what DOES lie ahead?so many options and so many choices to make. this will sound corny but, follow your heart and read the bible. they both come in handy. this is a very creative peice that makes you think.good job.

I can totally relate. Unfortunately i'm not so relaxed about it as you, lol. I've been out of school for several years and have just decided to go back. Thinking about the future terrifies me. This is a great poem though. You have a wonderful attitude. Good for you!

Absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! You got real talent kid. Of all the things you can be I think you should really seriously think of writing. Not everyone can put together words and make them sing and have a life of their own. You have this gift. God gave it to you. Learn and practice and one day you could spread the Godpel through your writing. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading. Keep up the awesome work. God Bless and Peace f:

Creative piece. Don't feel bad, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be LOL I guess that's not funny except for the fact that I'll be 47 years old next week LOL Your poem clearly shows that you are thinking about the possibilities and that, in itself, will help get you where you want to go in life. An enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing

I could write poetry or become a writer
You are very good at writing. I am impressed! You can be anthing you want but take your time and make sure it suits you. You dont have to decide right away. Take some time think about then plan out a course of action to get from point A to point B.
Wonderful Writing I hope you keep it up.

Hey don't worry about it. I'm graduating this year and I still don't know what I'm gonna do. The best advice I have for you is do what makes you happy, whatever your passion is. Too, when you are in college, you'll figure it out. Play it by ear, and you will figure it out! Good work! Good luck figuring it out!

    Great work!!

Good work!! Most of the people in their entire life never figure out what it is that they really want. Actually, it is quite difficult to choose a profession. Especially if one does not have a good idea of what it is like to follow a particular way of life. I love this poem. The way uncertainity is highlighted is really superb. But, seriously, you should not worry so much about life. What is important is your outlook...You have the talent. Just be optimistic! Wish you the very best in your life!! Keep writing!!

Great poem, I liked the way you not only took basic jobs and listed them but added in many special tasks types. This poem makes me wish sometimes that I still had my whole life ahead of me like I did when I was 17. I think it is still true today, you can be anything your heart desires if you want it bad enough.

Dont worry, when i was in high school i didnt know what i wanted either... but i had it narrowed down to a few things... If u dont know what u want to be there are certain tests that u take in high school that help u determine what u are best at.... mine was with people and creativeness, so with that i had it narrowed down to teaching and architecture. Well I applied to schools that were good for teaching and others that were good for architecture. Architecture didnt really work out so i went on to teaching. I would love to do both still haha... so when im done with my education major im going to try for architecture again. That way if one fails ill always have something else to fall back on. And I really love both. Education because I love children and having the little kids look up to me and architecture since i have such a huge fascination with buildings and I love designing houses hehe. Well good luck on your choice... Remember, go for something that you like to do no matter how much money u would make, Its better to do something u like then to have all the money in the world doing something u despise.
