Tears were in her eyes
And he could hear her cry
He sat there for a while
Then he turned to her with a smile.
“Are you okay seeing him die?”
“No, I’m not”, was her reply,
“But, I’m not leaving, you see.
‘cause he did that for me.”
Those words echoed that day
And in my heart they would play
As I sat there and watched him too
“This my body broken for you.”
I thought of my recent sins
As those words echoed within.
“This is my blood shed for you.”
As I began to weep too.
We sat watching his passion
And witnessed his loving compassion.
Both that young girl and I,
For ourselves, witnessed him die.
And he could hear her cry
He sat there for a while
Then he turned to her with a smile.
“Are you okay seeing him die?”
“No, I’m not”, was her reply,
“But, I’m not leaving, you see.
‘cause he did that for me.”
Those words echoed that day
And in my heart they would play
As I sat there and watched him too
“This my body broken for you.”
I thought of my recent sins
As those words echoed within.
“This is my blood shed for you.”
As I began to weep too.
We sat watching his passion
And witnessed his loving compassion.
Both that young girl and I,
For ourselves, witnessed him die.
Author notes
My experience watch the passion was affected by the story of a girl who had seen it before I did. She cried because she knew "he did that for me." Those words were in my mind and heart as I watched. Afterward, I typed this.

A beautiful write...
A beautiful write; His death and resurrection were our gain; it was an interesting movie and was glad that I could appreciate its value on so many levels. Maybe you would like my poem called "Silent Tears" (which parallels the theme of this piece). --Joe

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to comment, but I've just been sooooo busy...this piece is overwhelingly powerful....I said it before, that I wish I had more trophies to give out, and this is DEFINITELY trophy worthy, but like I said im my IM....the comments in the author's notes were important for us to consider when we judged......I am soooo sorry....
I really loved this one.......I hope that you didn't get offended.......thanks for entering.......

I have not seen the movie yet mostly because I am not so sure emotionaly I can handle it. See the first time I read the poem that said I asked Jesus how much do you love me and he said my child I love you this much then stretched out his arms and died. It made me cry. This write of yours is beautifuly written and well expressed.
