Precious little one,
For you life has just begun.
What ever shall I do
Now that I have you?
When I see you smile,
All the while
Warm affection fills my heart,
A love that will never part.
As I watch you play,
Joy unmeasurable fills my day.
As the new world, you explore
I see for you, life is an open door.
To guide your future
And help you to mature
Is all I want to do,
For the love I have for you.
Precious little one,
For me life has just begun.
Life so wondrously new,
Because of the love I have for you.

Simple but it's for a baby. Written more from a parent's perspective.

I do have 3 nieces and 3 nephews and I do volunteer work with children. A friend of mine once said that if you cut me open I would bleed children.
-
For having no children of your own this was an awesome and striking piece filled with emotion. I really thought it was outstanding.

awww, this is so sweet! This brought a smile to my face. My yoga instructor just had a miscarriage but she's getting through it fairly well, she has 2 other children and I thought of her when I read this. Well put and excellent poem!

Though I have no children of my own, it's easy for me to write about children and especially babies because I love them. I have 3 nieces and 3 nephews. They are 'my kids.'
