Souls remain
Buildings fall
People stand
Fires burn
Heroes calm
Smoke rises
Fears subside
Cowards hate
Brave love
Hate ever kills
Love never dies
Fear limits power
Love gains respect
Love
Conquers
Fear
Author notes
"A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave."
"Hatred ever kills, love never dies; such is the vast difference between the two. What is obtained by love is retained for all time. What is obtained by hatred proves a burden in reality for it increases hatred."
"Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment."
- Quotes from Mohandas K. Gandhi
In thinking about 9-11, I thought about one of my favorite movies about a man who believed in non-violence. I borrowed his words and ideas to write this poem.

Excellent
This is awesome. Very powerful way to use the words of a man who had such strength and power within himself. Beautiful write, beautiful thoughts. Keep up the good work. -
Good
I love your style you used and I love how you combined the two (fear and love) and I love how you talked about both!! Great poem, you did a very great job on it!! Good luck in the contest!! -
(I still really liked the other
lol) I have to say, the brevity of those lines... wow. I mean, you don't try to spell it out for the reader because, as an American (at least for me), I can read those lines and feel what two or three short words are expressing. Sadly, not everyone can because they are already forgetting. I thought this was wondeful, and good luck in the contest.

A VERY HEARTFELT POEM :f
This was a very powerful poem. The words leap right off the page. It is such an emotional topic for a poem. I love your author's comment as much as your poem. I like the way you describe the two kinds of power. It was such a pleasure to read both. Take care, Sandy -
Wow- this is a very strong poem which I liked a lot, September the Eleventh will forever be marked as that day of tragedy, but we can rise against the hatred with our love, bravery and hope for the future. Good luck in the contest, this was a fantastic write.
