Where is your hope?
By what do you cope?
Is it in material or wealth?
Can it end conflict or strife?
Will money buy you health?
Can you purchase eternal life?
Where is your hope?
How do you cope?
Do you lean on a friend?
In another mortal do you trust?
Will he be with you to the end?
Or will he too turn to dust?
Where is your hope?
By what do you cope?
By strength in your own power?
Can you save your self from harm?
Are you your own strong tower?
By you will nations tremble and disarm?
Where is your hope?
How do you cope?
In the comfort of some substance?
Do you turn to an addiction?
To find some assistance?
And free you from affliction?
Money can by many things.
But even the best medical care
Will not save queens and kings
From the final end we all share.
Friends will help momentarily
If they are faithful and true.
They are here only temporarily,
For they are mortal and weak too.
Even those with the greatest power
Have a weakness to be found.
All will fail in the final hour
For strength in self is not sound.
A substance will free from pain
And bring relief that will not last.
In the end it will not be a gain
And leave an emptiness that is deep and vast.
So where is your hope?
By what do you cope?
How do you cope?
The answer is to rely upon one
Who is not weak but is strong
Who’s purpose will not be undone
To Him you must belong
Seek the one who can never die,
Not in one who returns to dust.
Only in the Eternal can you rely.
Put your hope in one you can trust.
He is your only true hope.
In Him you will more than cope.
Our Lord is a strong tower.
He is our refuge and strength in trouble.
In his right is might power.
In Him you will not fall nor stumble.
He has called you his friend.
His word is faithful and true.
He will be with you to the end,
For he dearly loves you!

I really like this, it speaks such truths in an amazing way. It is so true that everything around you will eventually turn to dust...apart from the Lord who is so strong. A great poem.

Wow, this was a wonderful poem- ignore Ever-innocent as their mind is already made up, I read the other comments and Ever-innocent seems to hate all Christian poetry, of which this was an excellent and beautiful example

Whuttttt??? I cannot believe the comment above me, my Friend!!! Why??? The Poet didn't even bother to say...oh well...I, on the other hand, liked it...a lot...but hey, 'tis in my nature to Hope!!! There is always Hope, if one wishes to see it...even if they don't, it's still there, patient & waiting...sometimes, for me, just the Sun rising (& the Son rising) is enough...Bravo, melphleg...well done. my Friend!!!

Very well-written.......everything you wrote goes with the flow...You are right,friends will help but one day they are also going to turn into dust like us.The only person whom we should seek help from is the almighty because He is the one who will never leave us...I like the way you've written this piece....it is an excellent piece....keep it up...hope to see more fro you soon.
