Superstar

When the stage is quiet & dark,
when fragrant bouquets have died,
just know I was here in shadows ~
I bowed my head & cried.

Your performance was so grand, dear one ~
the audience was in awe ~
though, when no one was looking,
I turned around & saw.

You kissed the sky ~ it kissed you back ~
you knelt upon the earth ~
you stretched your arms toward the stars
& discovered your rebirth.

Your show was Standing Room Only,
so I waited in the wing ~
but then, instead of whispering,
you began to sing.

The crowd hung on your every word ~
they listened for every breath ~
& then, when you were finished,
I died a little death...

Hello, Sir...Thanks for your kind words...the shadows came in from being on the sidelines, watching the performance as it was unveiled...(I usually lean more towards Light) You asked, 'who?' I don't know, really...the poem just came to me, really, when I was practicing rhymes again...I usually do free~verse...I kinda thought of the song by The Carpenters, 'Superstar'...& memories of watching people in concert...not one specific artist or group, though...thanks for visiting, Sir...I appreciate your Time...be well, Poet!!! Okay you wanted my opinion.
Its a funny thing how we see things in different ways and thank goodness we do. But how it felt to me was I was the watcher and you are the "Superstar"
You kiss the sky every time you write. Yes the audience hangs on your every word. Just look at me for example. I can move mountains when I read your poems.
And if there was no more NIGHT HOPE poems, I definitely would experience a little death.
There you have it. Of course its only my perception, but its all mine.
    AWESOME! AWESOME!AWESOME!

    ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!

whoa, Wanda!!! now THIS is some absolutely beautiful poetry~! and you can sure tell by all the clapping and applauding going on here - and I don't mean in the poem! I'm in agreement with the soul who said you've got Emily D's DNA - THIS is soooo great, every bit of it. For someone who was standing in the shadows, your performance here should have been center stage and under the bright lights.....an exquisite poem indeed. I truly love it, my friend. take care

Well, wherever this came from you should tap into it more often because this was a grand piece of work. I enjoyed it..my favorite lines were,
    "& I waited in the wing ~
    & then, instead of whispering,
    you began to sing."
my only suggestion is that you get rid of all the 'ands'. Try, "and I waited in the wing
    then, instead of whispering,
    you began to sing."
There really is no need for excessive use of the word and. I think it'll make your poem even better, but it's your artwork, do what you will with it. Keep up the good work,
    Sinceritamente,
    Venomous Scorpio

This is fantastic Wanda! I realize you "don't know where this came from" but it easily could describe Christ, who did so much for us while on His stage: even dying for us. It could describe the deep love we might feel for someone close, who then dies and leaves us behind.

Obviously, your talent radiates here; for you have penned a poem with which no one could fail to identify. Now, that particular feat is the mark of a true master of the craft.

    Love and hugs, BonnieQ

haha!!! i dont think jimi would mind too much and this is cool.. it feels like another side to an emerging artist... the more down-to-earth side. also makes me feel like the artist actually loved what he/she was doing... which doenst seem to be the case in today's music industry. love of music, that is. i dunno i got a very warm, hard rock live feeling from this.. makes me wish i had my guitar or piano or cuatro or SOMETHING here to play for a while lol but alas, theyre all at home oh well. some good music will just have to do thanks for the lovely song... even if it doesnt seem like you wrote one
