That was really very kind.
I was just being a prankster you know. No one ever really leaves AllPoetry it is like the Hotel California.
I will put them to good use. Perhaps use a Wendy Cope poem as a jump start for a contest idea.
Thanks again.

Jobob on November 22, 2005I haven't read her latest one -- I'm holding out for Christmas! My Gran has, though, and she says it's fantastic. I really enjoyed the Lord John Grey book, too.

Thank you!
I'll definitely be back...

AzureBlue on October 17, 2005Hi Jobob! Particle physics, eh? Awesome!
I am presently fascinated with quantum physics...and the possible implications for our concept of our universe. Not that I know that much about the science of it at this point, but I am enjoying the discussion! I've been reading "The Holographic Universe" and I'm enamored with the movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know?". I understand that some of what is presented is perhaps based on pseudo-science, but I find it fascinating nontheless. Anyway...please to meet you! I look forwared to reading your poetry...

Oooh my GOD, the cukoo's nest! Jobob, I can honestly say that The Cukoo's Nest was one of the oddest experiences of my life. I would've ended it all with one of those outsized giant weapons, had they been made of something harmful and not just foamy crap.
Wow. -
Jobob on April 27, 2005Hi GoneWithFergus: thanks for stopping by!
Don't let anyone tell you you can't study science because you're a girl: of course you can! In fact, the only real questions are 1) do you want to, and 2) do you have the ability? If you do, then remind the doubters that you're the one that's going to have to live your life, and you'd rather face it with a nice useful science degree under your belt.
If you can work and you're not afraid of maths, science isn't as hard as people make out, and it gets *much* more interesting once you leave school... -
Hurrah for you! I read your author page and some comments on the message boards, and I must say I agree with you. (Although I must also admit that I too originally thought you were male.)
I just wanted to say that I think it's great you're in particle physics. I'm seventeen and female, and I love science, but I feel like my family always pushed me away from it because I'm a girl. Oh well...
Have a nice day!

freakish-and-dazed on April 18, 2005Its nice to finally meet a fellopw Scot on this site, congratulations on the wedding, ther naticipation must be killing you! I will look into your poems, but from the amount of tophies you have I don't doubt their quality, you are a Scot after all!

-
Well...realized I don't think I ever visited your page before so I decided to muck it up with my usual nonsense and vandalism.

NoIQ on March 10, 2005Discovering your work is a monumental delight. I only became familiar with you due to the "physics/portal" discussion on the message boards. However, since physics is a particular love of mine as well, it provoked me to read your poetry. I apologize that for now I haven't left a critique, yet I read more than one piece. It's all excellent, and you were instantly added to my favorites. I anticipated I would enjoy the works, because your prose on the Boards describing quantum and relativistic theory to a largely lay audience was outstanding. Anyway, I am very, very pleased to discover the poetry is its equal.

leannewales on December 18, 2004just been having a look at your website..you are a very bright young woman Joanna and should not hang about on boards with crazy old welsh women who pose as teenagers in love (hehe)...i shall return soon to read some of your stuff...leanne xxx

Duana on September 10, 2004How come all this time I thought you were male? My oh my when reality kicks in

StrmDncr on August 17, 2004I also see you have read Diana Gabaldon.. Have you read her book Cross Stitch (Outlander here in the states)? It's my all time favorite..
Pat -
StrmDncr on August 17, 2004I read the comment you left for the lady looking for help with a poem for a friend who lost a child and I was happy to see someone give an answer worth reading instead of ranting like most do. So I came over to say hello and read some of your work.
Thank you for being such a nice person and taking the time to help someone in need.

Karen Michelle on August 3, 2004Hi I just wanted to say that no matter what I read of your I always seem to enjoy your work.
You seem to have a very interesting life thus far (and to be far far more knowledgeable than me
) I'm really impressed with your physics - it's interesting to see your mix with physics and poetry. I often like it when your bring science and creativity together - it shows the the two can in fact become one.
Doing an English degree I kinda miss out on the scientific side of things and it's weird but I often long to do something like science of maths again because I love finding out how things (mainly the universe) works. That's why I think that I enjoy your poetry so much.
So yeah, all I wanted to say was keep on writing! Good look in your PhD and stuff.
Karen

Deja Vu on July 15, 2004Wow, I think I love you
. Heehee... I love when people critique my work just short to tearing it apart like flesh... It's so... satisfying. Thank you very much, I've added a bunch of changes, but I kept the butterfly... Perhaps it's a male thing, because most guys don't see it, but we girls are usually delicate when it comes to love... almost too much so, which I why I left it there
Thanks again, come look at it again if you like
-
Deja Vu on July 14, 2004Ahahaha... -guessed right- You ARE in Critique Anonymous! -grins- Anyway, knowing that...
I think I may read some of your stuff later

C.W. Bush on June 28, 2004Just came by to applaud your comments on the column 'Farenheit 9/11'. Good to see a well constructed, fact based argument about the whole thing. I'm so sick of the pro-Bush progaganda we get smothered with in Australia.
-
Raindropz on June 22, 2004it's always nice to be admired...so thought i'd let you know that i admire you. maybe i could get a couple of comments from you on my poems?
