"Nelumbo nucifera"
My brain was tugged on from the left side
I turned
I took in the sunrise
I’ve seen it a million times
Why was I surprised?
Its’ brilliance made me squint
What’s brilliant, is our life’s stint
Who claims to be stoic?
It’s hard to stomach some pains
Over 5 billion strong (under God’s domain)
I was recently reflecting on how others affect us
While engaged in a thought
I was inspired by a Lotus
Anciently familiar
Sowing such shocking deeds
Lotus
Lotus…
Many have enjoyed those seeds
As an herbal tea that people make
Or in those not-so-ancient Moon cakes
A Lotus visited me you see?
And her beautiful ways inspired me…

xLOTUSx ..
I’d like to tip my hat to someone who is..
Loyal, loving, laugh out loud funny
Original , one of a kind, sweet as a drop of honey
Talented, talkative, tenaciously determined, loaded with advice to give
Undeniably frank, contemplative, deals with a lot yet still constantly supportive
Super personality, strong in character, seriously engaging, a rare one of a kind
She’s a poet of talent and depth, and I’m proud to say, a friend of mine!

"Money may not be the root of ALL evil, but it certainly is the root of a lot of our problems." - Me © Rebecca Leah Britton
"Instead of telling our young people to plan ahead, we should tell them to plan to be surprised." Dan in Real Life
I would have to describe my poetry as mostly personal. Some of it relates to the darker sides of my life, some of it to the sexual, and a lot of it is just the realism of my life. Whether that realism is sad, happy, strength, weakness, hope, despair. I just know that I write, I have been told by others that I write well, and I love to write. I've been writing down my thoughts and feelings for quite a long time. I started when I was 13. I am a mother of 2 lovely boys. Meaning I have given birth to 2 beautiful male children that are the world to me. Even though they aren't with me right now in my life, they are always with me in my heart, mind, and a huge part of my soul and who I am. I'm a Juggalette (either you know or you don't). I have piercings and tattoos. So far I have 8 tattoos and 8 piercings. I am sure that one day there will be more of them. The pain in this world often inspires some of my best work, because that pain lets me feel alive, helps to remind me that I am alive often times. My best friend is on this site. http://allpoetry.com/cerridwen
She is a very talented writer and is one of the major reasons I have made it as far as I have in this world. We haven't been friends all that long, but its like we have known each other our entire lives. We are like sisters and I love her with all of my heart and soul! My kids and my best friend, are my inspiration and my driving force in life these days. If it weren't for them, I would be a hollow shell of the person I am now. Thank You for being there for me. I love you more than anything!
------------------------
I always felt a connection with Edgar Allan Poe. Then again I feel connected to some of the strangest people of all time. I also admire Marilyn Manson as he is a genius. There is a lot to know about me. My work tells a lot. I admire many people for the genius they have that makes them great, and for the strength they have shown to over come the societal "status" and break free to be themselves! The people I admire the most however are the people who are the closest to me and have been there for me. My best friend, my man, my kids (I admire my kids because they still have their innocence at this time, and I feel for them when the day the age of reason hits and they have to learn what this world really is.) my family (I don't really have much blood family that I can count on but the people I have chosen and who have chosen me as family is plenty enough for me!) and the few friends that I have that encourage me. Thank you all!
Favorite Writers: Stephen King, Dean Koontz (mostly because he also writes poetry - see Book of Counted Sorrows), Anne Rice and many others. Favorite poets are kind of hard to narrow down, but I love the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, D.H. Lawrence and many others.
Music that I like: I listen to all kinds of music including but not limited to: Metal - modern and classic, Death Metal, Hard Rock, Rock, Alternative, Punk, Techno, Dance, Horror Rap, Industrial, Goth, Classical, Classic Rock, New Age.... Bif Naked Rocks!
"It was a monday, when my lover told me,
"never pay the reaper with love only."
what could i say to you, except, "i love you."
and "i'd give my life for yours." - From the song Lucky by Bif Naked \m/
Just about any music that doesn't fall into these categories: Whiner Rap (FEminem - yes that F is on purpose), Christian or Gospel, Emo (not a hater, just not something I like)
Music has been a huge part of my life, and an even bigger inspiration than most people will ever know.
So there, I have covered just about everything, I think. If I missed anything vital, let me know with an IM if you really must know something I haven't listed or spoken about above!
Thanks and Happy Writing to all! Most important, Keep the Muse Alive!!
